Modernist is the new Joel Dewberry collection for Freespirit Fabrics. It has a pretty turquoise, purple and mustard colour palette, there’s a blue/green/mustard colourway called peacock and a purple/grey/turquoise colourway called plum. The prints include several funky geometrics, I especially love the fractured one, a bird, a couple of floral prints and a tree rings print too.
Despite being called Modernist I think this collection has quite the retro feel, from the prints to the colours used. I can imagine some great vintage style dresses made with these print. 8 of the prints, including the beautiful birds, are available as voile, ideal for your dressmaking projects. The bird print would be ideal for a large bag to really show the print off well. For quilters there’s a free quilt pattern for this collection on the Freepspirit website called Secret Garden.
Modernist is just arriving into shops now, late March.
